Adrian - Head Chef
British-born Adrian Hornsby spent over 20 years travelling the world learning to cook a wide variety of cuisines and working with many top chefs. Adrian’s culinary adventures fuelled his love for creating great food. He has run many kitchens and collected a repertoire of great dishes and skills which he was pleased to share with the Blue Carrot team when he joined the business in 2008.
In the Blue Carrot team, Adrian found a bunch of people that are as passionate about food as he is! Today he is happy to call Blue Carrot and New Zealand home.
Blue Carrot Catering has a talented team of 20 full-time staff and many casual front of house staff. Blue Carrot’s staff are the key to our success – they are dedicated to creating delicious, quality food, and are proud of the great job they do. We work as a team to ensure that Blue Carrot Catering remains one of Wellington's top caterers.
Now’s the time we face that age-old, almost impossible to answer question … ‘What do I get mum for Mother’s Day?... Chocolates? Flowers? Or what about a skydiving voucher, she’d love that, right? Don’t worry, this year we’ve got the perfect gift idea ...
Easter’s nearly here and the annual avalanche of chocolate has well and truly hit the shops. Everywhere you look there are mountains of shiny, rainbow coloured eggs.
The summer sun was still high in the sky when our Blue Carrot team got to thinking about new autumn menus .
It’s no secret that the events industry is continually growing and evolving, and even though it’s early days we are already seeing that 2019 will be no different.
What a summer – I don’t think I can remember a better one!
Our Blue Carrot team has had a fun and incredibly busy time over the last couple of months catering beautiful weddings, parties, and all sorts of other events as people made the most of the spectacular weather.
We’ve also been enjoying connecting with and supporting some of the amazing community groups in our area - something we’ve done since we started Blue Carrot nearly 20 years ago
We hope everyone had a fabulous break over Christmas and New Year!
Hi and welcome to blog #3.

It sounds great, but do you also feel a little daunted by the catering involved?
Well, don’t worry. At Blue Carrot we have the perfect solution for you.
Wedding bells are in the air and you’re going to say ‘I do’, but before the big day arrives there’s a lot to organise – and next to the glad-rags, catering is right up there at the top of the list.
We’ve catered literally hundreds of weddings over nearly two decades and in that time have learnt a lot about creating the perfect day. So to help your wedding reception go without a hitch, here are my “Top 5 questions to ask a wedding caterer.”
Hi, welcome to the first Blue Carrot Catering blog.
We’ve been catering for every kind of event you can imagine for over 20 years and in that time we’ve learnt a lot. . . about what to consider when creating unique events, about the amazing produce we have right here on our doorstep, about running a sustainable business, about getting involved with our local community. And a whole lot more . . .
Now we want to share that knowledge around and a blog seemed the perfect way to do that
